This is a challenging and rewarding position to provide mission assurance for a space-based RF payload. A successful professional in this role applies knowledge of NASA mission assurance categories and applicable standards to space payloads rated from mission class A thru D. The cyber and safety mission assurance engineer has broad / general expertise in the areas of parts selection, materials, receiving inspection, and AS9100 processes. This role requires collaboration with design engineers and manufacturing engineers.


  • Assess requirements for a variety of projects and ensure that inspection has received these certificates and data.

  • Assess space parts levels, compare to written requirements, and set up travelers to do testing needed.

  • Identify deviations from quality standards and provide guidance and mitigation when possible and push to higher management when necessary.

  • Perform test reviews to identify deficiencies in date to requirements and determine corrective actions. Maintain records with latest data and information and store in predetermined server areas.

  • Assist incoming receiving and material inspection personnel with cyber / software interpretion as necessary and help set up standard forms for members of the group to use.

  • Help with Microscope, XRF, or other lab tests as necessary.

  • Work well with manufacturing and engineering personnel.

  • Provide minutes, and communicate results as needed to management and program IPTs.

  • Support development of plans for current and future programs to incorporate mission assurance practices into program.

  • Knowledge of Cyber Security Requirements

  • Knowledge of NIST Safety Specification 800 series

  • Knowledge of Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)

  • 2-5 years experience of the above standards and requirements and writing, editing procedures for safety.

  • Apply digital protection techniques across operating systems and mobile platforms.

  • Manage security architecture and operations.

  • Identify system vulnerabilities and solve problems with intrusion detection tactics.

  • 2-5 years of NASA or space experience using the above. Preferred - experience at NASA facility.

  • Experience with quality management of electronics hardware design, mechanical design, software design and production/flight hardware.

  • Experience with AS9100 or similar quality management system standards and methodologies.

  • Familiarity with the GIDEP program.

  • BS or MS in Cyber Security

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Must have good interpersonal and team-oriented skills.

  • Strong attention to details and organizational skills.

Clearance Requirement: Top Secret, with the ability to obtaina and maintain TS/SCI with Polygraph. This position requires a Top-Secret security clearance, based on current background investigation (SBI). Clearance processing will be completed by the U.S. Government. Factors considered for a U.S. Government Security Clearance include, but are not limited to:
