This is a mid-level technical role to research, design, develop, analyze, and test a variety of mechanical/aeronautical/astronautical systems for research and the military aerospace industry. The successful candidate would focus on mechanical design, structural analysis, packaging considerations, additive manufacturing, ISR systems integration, space-based cooling, manufacturing readiness, and mission testing with consultation from other engineering disciplines.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering group is a high performing team with a breadth of experience in mechanical design, electronics manufacturing, electronics packaging, structural, and thermal analysis. The mid-level mechanical engineer will perform the following:

• Design and analysis of mechanical components and assemblies for space-based systems.

• Select materials, structures, hardware, and manufacturing processes suitable for application in the payload.

• Develop and conduct testing to validate engineering analysis models.

• 3D CAD (SolidWorks) design and GD&T drafting of mechanical/electrical components and assemblies

• Performing vendor research, selection, and interface

• Convert customer requests and team desires into requirements and solutions to create innovative mission packages

• Develop engineering qualification plans for requirements verification and risk reduction utilizing a combination of engineering analysis and environmental testing (Thermomechanical, Shock/vibe, humidity, other fatigue tests, and overstress testing

• Develop and conduct testing to validate engineering analysis models.

• Develop and execute manufacturing process validation plans.

• Design and qualify complex tooling to facilitate product assembly.

• Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate material selections and/or advanced electronic packaging manufacturing processes.

• Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.

• Assist in creating cost estimates for related activities.




• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or similar) with 5+ years of experience or a Masters’ degree with 1+ years of experience.

• Mastery of the fundamental principles for performing mechanical design and analysis including structural, thermal, or vibration.

• Experience with space-based system analysis

• Familiarity with and ability to use and manipulate technical drawings in mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Catia, and Autodesk.

• Ability to work across mechanical, aeronautical, astronautical, electrical, and materials engineering disciplines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills.

• Good interpersonal skills including a passionate and can-do attitude.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must be able to plan and execute multiple technical tasks concurrently

• Experience with CubeSats and/or other Satellite systems

• Experience in AS9100

• U.S. Citizenship REQUIRED


• Current TS/SCI clearance

• FEA experience in ANSYS

• Experience with on orbit mission support

• Additive Manufacturing, 3D printing experience in electroplated plastic and metallics

• Machine shop and small part fabrication experience

• Composite and/or Aluminum design and/or fabrication experience

• CAD experience in Solidworks

• Proficient with analysis tools including Ansys or Solidworks

• Experience with package level system analysis

• High reliability electronics packaging design experience

• Experience creating and executing DOE (design of experiments)

Clearance: Must be able obtain and maintain a security clearance (minimum SECRET).

Clearance processing will be completed by the U.S. Government. Factors considered for a U.S. Government Security Clearance include but are not limited:
