A mechanical engineer in the Rapid Solutions division at Jacobs applies knowledge in 3D CAD design, GD&T, heat transfer, structural mechanics, material properties, and other engineering design principles to various electronics packaging projects. The microelectronics and supporting structure designed must function in harsh environments produced by airplanes, satellites, ships, and automobiles in locations around the world. In conjunction, they must withstand temperature extremes, thermal shock, vibration, structural shock, moisture, and corrosion.
As a mechanical engineering intern, you will learn how to design for these challenging conditions, while gaining a fundamental understanding of printed circuit board (PCB) design, RF engineering, and a variety of fabrication and manufacturing processes. All activities will be designed to give the intern a full understanding of the engineering design lifecycle and insight into the role that mechanical engineers play at Jacobs. Each intern will be paired with a mentor of the same discipline, to increase their educational experience.
