Jacobs SMT Technician in Severn, Maryland
Work as part of a close-knit SMT group focusing on low-volume, high-mix automated electronics manufacturing. Assemble prototype through production assemblies at the bleeding edge of microelectronic complexity and density using automated assembly equipment. Think critically and ask the right questions to help refine documentation and processes to achieve the highest yields.
Loading / unloading component feeders for pick and place machine.
Reviewing documentation and kits for accuracy and completeness.
Operating automated assembly equipment (paste printer, pick and place, reflow oven, inspection equipment, bake-out ovens, board wash).
Programing automated assembly equipment.
Hand-placing through-hole or surface mount components prior to reflow.
In-process inspecting bare boards, electronic components, solder deposits, component placements, and completed assemblies as required.
Communicating through verbal or detailed written instructions to feed back issues and questions to designers and engineers, and coordinate effectively with the team.
ABILITY TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A SECURITY CLEARANCE.
1-3 years’ experience as an SMT Technician.
Skills and experience which would be beneficial but are not required. KEYW SMT is willing to train and advance the right candidate.
Operating / programming electronics assembly equipment.
An interest in, or even love of, electronics, computers, and tech in general.
Soldering, use of hand tools, mechanical assembly / disassembly of electronics.
General knowledge / affinity for PCs and software – office applications, CAD design, graphic design, programming.
Working under a microscope and with extremely fine and fragile devices.
Interpreting / using bills of materials and mechanical drawings – familiarity with manufacturing documentation.
Ability to learn and apply a complex set of skills and work on several tasks concurrently.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing requirements.
