About the opportunity

Jacobs is looking for an individual to continue to grow our strong reputation of excellence in technical consulting and project delivery expertise. Our Rail team have a strong project pipeline and as we continue winning work, we are seeking to appoint a Rail Design Manager, to work closely with delivery partners and manage major multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects. Based in South Brisbane this role will manage engineering design and provide broader project leadership across the thriving Transport sector.

About you

With significant projects already in hand, several projects in the pipeline and to contribute to the existing growth of the JACOBS business, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience with major rail project delivery, through various delivery methods including D&C and Alliance. You will have established relationships with delivery partners and clients. Whilst actively promoting a strong safety culture in the working and project design environments, you will lead and provide technical input and direction to the design team. You will manage and undertake technical review of deliverables, attend and participate in project and client meetings whilst balancing resource requirements to meet project pipeline expectations.

  • Previous experience managing an engineering team on large multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects with strong experience in the technical delivery of projects

  • Have experience in Civil Engineering within the Rail and Transport sectors ideally working in a design and consultancy environment

  • Experience with various aspects of the design process, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects

  • Degree qualified (essential) and Masters (preferable)

  • Be a Registered Professional Engineering of Queensland (RPEQ) or be working towards it

  • Extensive experience managing various aspects of the design process, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects

  • Have an exemplary track record in project management (achieving budgets, timeframe and customer requirements)

  • Be a chartered professional engineer

  • Have good interpersonal skills relating to working in a team environment

  • Have good communication skills, both verbally and written

  • Have evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • Be willing to travel domestically to meet project needs
