Job Description (describe the day-to-day):

  • Incumbent will be responsible for programming in an AV environment, which may include one or more of the following:

  • Program touch panels based upon given engineering designs, “build to,” and customer requirements documentation.

  • Maintain program version control and adhere to configuration management.

  • Troubleshoot hardware cabling and components in addition to touch panel programming.

  • Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.

  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.

  • Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

  • May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.

  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems level software, compilers, and network distribution software for industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications.

  • Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements.

  • Develop plans for automated information systems from project inception to conclusion including systems requirements determination.

  • Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manage their implementation.

  • Manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.

  • Analyze user interfaces, maintain hardware and software performance tuning, analyze workload and computer usage, maintain interfaces with outside systems, analyze downtimes, analyze proposed system modifications, upgrades and new COTS. Define the problem and develop system requirements and program specifications, from which programmers prepare detailed flow charts, programs, and tests.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


  • Must be a US citizen

  • Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check.

  • Advanced knowledge the customer and the inner workings of the organization are critical to this position.

  • Must be able to perform local travel within the Washington Metropolitan Area

  • Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing

  • Must be able to coordinate, communicate and provide technical support to other functional groups relating to AV systems.

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Visio)

  • 3 or more years of audio visual technology experience with 2 years or more spent programming touch panels based upon given engineering designs, “build to”, and customer requirements documentation

  • Ability to develop easy-to-use documentation for the frameworks and tools developed for adaption by other users.

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Must be able to maintain regular, reliable attendance and ensure on time daily arrival.

Desired Requirements (nice to have but not required):

  • Network+ or A+ certifications, CTS Certification

  • AMX Programmer I & II training course completion

  • Understands how AMX and Extron programming cause/effect impacts overall audio visual systems

An Information Technology Generalist proficient in many facets of information technology requirements. The candidate should possess general business knowledge and soft-skills allowing them to be adaptable in a wide array of work environments. The candidate should have the willingness to participate in these type of activities when called upon to do so.

Physical Requirements:

Some work is performed in an office environment, other times work is performed on site of an install. While in the office typically employees sit comfortably to do their work however, when it's required to be presence during installs there could be prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals to accomplish work objectives.

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday; however, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Coordination — Possess the ability to quickly and strategically adjust project activities in relation to internal/external team actions.

Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
