Jacobs is seeking a Terminal Equipment Maintenance Lab Technician in Springfield, VA. Duties will include:
Act as information distributor and customer representatives
Operate, configure, maintain, repair, and manage telecommunications in non-traditional environments
Provide project management and systems integration for voice and data communication systems and provide maintenance and support to customers after installation
Specializations include CISCO Routers/Switches, Scanners, Fax Machines, Printers, Fiber Isolators, Modems, VOIP and VTC (Video Teleconferencing)
Technicians should be capable of reading technical manuals and diagrams to isolate problems down to component or module level.Once this has been completed the technician should be able to fully test the repaired unit, complete documentation of the repaired item and return the repaired item to the inventory
Active TS/SCI with polygraph required
AA Degree or equivalent in an appropriate and relevant discipline from an accredited school, college or university, and four (4) years or more of relevant experience. May require certification on specific systems
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing
Ability to become familiar with Customer and Logistics regulations, policies, and unique authorities
Some Basic knowledge of Logistics procedures and policies specific to the area of assignment
Some Basic knowledge of various Logistics databases and applications
Basic knowledge of how to read and interpret routine financial statements.
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to compose and deliver responses to customers’ routine questions in a clear and concise manner
Ability to develop an internal network of professional working relationships within the work unit and with service partners’ counterparts in other Offices
Ability to interact with customers effectively in resolving routine problems
Ability to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities
Ability to use good judgment and personal initiative in recognizing appropriate action to be taken for completion of tasks
Ability to demonstrate a high level of service delivery
Ability to interact with people who have different values, cultures, or backgrounds
Associates Degree or higher in Advanced Electronics
Military technical training or completion of technical institute program
Two years of experience in basic electronics with experience in repairing scanners, fax machines and printers
Minimum of one year of experience of advanced electronics with the ability to diagnose, repair and maintain scanners, fax machines, printers, fiber isolators, modems, VOIP (Voice Over Internet Phone) and VTC (Video Teleconferencing) equipment
Essential Job Functions
Depending on assignment, work is primarily performed in an office environment and may including conditions vary from an office environment where work is primarily sedentary to environments where extensive standing and/or walking, climbing,bending,crouching, lifting light to heavy objects or being exposed to noise, dust, dirt, etc. is expected.
The work environment varies from an office environment to working in an environment that may include exposure to drafts, noise, dust, grease, dirt, and standing water as well as temperature extremes and inclement weather. Employees may be exposed to potential health hazards.
Equipment and Machines:
General Warehouse equipment Handheld Scanner, Forklift, Pallet Jack , Computer Test Bed F/U/W VOIP testing, Flute Multimeter, CISCO Test Bed F/U/W testing of CISCO equipment, FIREBIRD F/U/W testing modems and isolators, Utilizing FTP F/U/W upgrade of firmware on MFP and VTC test bed F/U/W testing VTC equipment.Use of ladders or scaffolding may be required with the use of required safety equipment. Additional tools used are spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), Word Processor (MS) and Work Markup Language (HTML).
Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to maintain regular, reliable attendance and ensure on time daily arrival. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements.

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements.
Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check.
