Jacobs Water Technologist in St. Louis, Missouri

As a technologist in our water business, you will play a key role across the full spectrum of consulting services from advisory and engineering through to operations and asset management. We nurture the technical development of our global workforce of 55,000, to bring innovative ideas to solve our client’s challenges.

Jacobs supports flexible working arrangements, but we seek a St. Louis, Missouri home base for this position. Within our St. Louis office lays an array of specialist skills in hydrology and hydraulics, flood modelling, wastewater process, potable water process and watershed planning.

We are looking for a One Water leader to serve as a technologist who can assist in the delivery of high- profile projects, while also building and sustaining trusted relationships with key clients like Sewer Districts, Water Agencies, Utilities, and Federal Government Departments.

In this role, you will:

  • lead the development of technical approaches for projects, taking into consideration client needs, company strategy, resource requirements, financial performance and alternative approaches

  • develop and nurture relationships and teams within the Jacobs organization to empower our delivery approaches and to identify upcoming work

  • leverage national platform to position Jacobs as a One Water leader

  • develop key industry partnerships within professional organizations

  • actively share and apply best, and innovative, practices in water resource management

  • provide project oversight on time, budget, client relationships and quality of deliverables through roles such as project manager, design manager, and technical reviewer.

  • building our One Water brand by representing Jacobs in the industry through writing and presenting papers at conferences, as well as coaching less experienced staff to do so.

  • driving a culture of learning and teaching, including helping technical staff to identify stretch goals and presenting on lessons learned

As a Technologist collaborating with Senior Project Management and One Water leadership throughout the Midwest you will be responsible for integrating technical input, building relationships with internal and external clients, and coaching a range of less experienced professionals. Technical and specialty skills

  • established trusted relationships with water clients across the Midwest

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering.

  • Project management experience with water/wastewater projects: process, treatment, distribution, and/or conveyance

  • Multidiscipline design management experience

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with clients and to win work

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
