Our team of multi-disciplinary experts is seeking a driven professional who will utilize their design expertise to dream big ideas on various and complex projects needing electrical design and construction support. We’d rely on your collaboration skills to coordinate interdisciplinary work for overall project success as well as encourage you to bring your fresh ideas to work every day. We will ask you to be client facing and able to travel as needed (up to 50% of the time) to project sites locally within the Greater Phoenix / Tucson area.
You will prepare detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities with minimum supervision as a mid-level Electrical Engineer.
You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you develop One-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panel Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations as well coordinate with the Electric Utility Company for new services as needed. As a supporter of various clients, you’ll use AGi32 lighting software to perform calculations and provide photometrics. In addition to preparation of contract drawings during the design phase, the role will require writing and editing electrical specifications, selecting equipment, electrical systems and devices. In the construction phase, the role will require reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, preparation of record drawings, conduct site visits, inspections and participate in start-up activities. You will be a part and parcel of electrical safety in design and conducting arc flash analyses and other electrical studies for our clients.
Our flexible work schedules offer you the opportunity to work both remotely and in a Jacobs office. You will have the option to work full-time or a modified full-time schedule (21-39 hours with benefits offered) based upon your needs and interest. Here’s What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field
Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona preferred
Minimum Engineer in Training certification, ready to work towards Professional Engineering certification
Working experience in the water/wastewater industry
Experienced in phased project deliverables such as design reports, drawings and specifications for power distribution applications, including calculation of available short circuit current, voltage drop, harmonic distortion, load calculations, power factor, equipment, conduit, conductor sizing, electrical plans, schematics and schedules
Strong understanding of NEC
Strong commitment to quality of deliverables
Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Powerpoint, Word and Excel
Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills
Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management
Ability to mentor junior staff
Ability to work and thrive in a team environment
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision
Ideally you'll also have:
Working knowledge of SKM or ETAP for modeling electrical systems
Field investigation, construction site inspection and startup experience
Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 820Familiarity with IEEE color book series
Working knowledge of AGi32 or Visual Lighting Software
Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu
Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
Ability to travel to project sites and interact with clients
