We’re seeking a Mining Environmental Project Manager to lead teams of scientists and engineers on complex projects for federal, state, and private mining clients. You’ll apply your project management skills and technical experience in all aspects of environmental services including but not limited to: mine and mill closure planning, soil, surface water and groundwater evaluation and restoration, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory agency interactions to develop strategies and work plans while championing safety, quality and thorough project organization.

This position can be located in our Colorado, Utah, Arizona, or Nevada office, and will involve working on mine closure, environmental remediation and compliance projects across North America. This position will officially be remote with flexibility of working in the office. You’ll grow your career as you interact with key clients to grow our business while mentoring junior technical staff. You will manage project teams that include junior and mid-level staff, senior technical consultants, and technical subject matter experts, with support from Jacobs internal management, to deliver a variety of mine environmental projects. All projects are delivered with the industries best safety, compliance, and quality standards expected by both Jacobs and our clients. You’ll ensure this through implementing an appropriate review process for each project including internal and client project reviews, risk reviews, constructability, and independent peer reviews. As a Mining Environmental Project Manager, you’ll work closely with the client team to develop, and most efficiently track, a project execution plan that meets the client’s goals. You’ll partner with Jacobs offices globally to develop and deliver the necessary studies and projects from conception through implementation that ultimately leads the client to a sustainable solution. We’ll rely on you to monitor and review project delivery components including administration, document control, project control, staff planning, engineering, supply chain management, construction, and pre-commissioning. You’ll also oversee the development of all project budgets, schedules, and progress reports; develop and manage project-specific change and risk management systems; and ultimately ensure that the project is delivered successfully on schedule. Maintaining your strong relationship with your clients, you’ll work with them to propose, scope and budget new projects.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental science or other closely related technical degree

  • Professional mine environmental characterization/remediation project experience, including environmental sampling and subcontractor oversight (preferably in consulting)

  • Experience conducting site investigations/characterizations, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, remedial designs/actions, and installing and optimizing remediation systems

  • Experience as a Project Manager on mine environmental remediation projects

  • Ability to plan, perform, and oversee field work

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Professional Engineer, Geologist or Project Management Professional (P.E., P.G, or PMP) or ability to obtain and maintain

  • Experience in working with major mining companies, state mine reclamation programs, and/or federal mine reclamation programs.

  • Working knowledge of mine site remediation, federal and state regulations (CERCLA and RCRA)

  • MSHA 24-hour surface miner certification or ability to obtain and maintain
