Jacobs Senior Archaeologist in Tempe, Arizona
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs) has an opening for a Senior Archaeologist/Archaeologist II. This position is classified as a full-time position. Jacobs’ hybrid work model allows for work to be performed from home or at Jacobs’ Tempe office location at the direction of the Environmental Group Lead. If work assignments are primarily remote, in-person attendance at Jacobs Tempe office/lab facility at least twice a month would be a requirement of the position.
This position is primarily office based, although participation in some fieldwork may be required as needed. Primary duties include senior report review and editing; Section 106/Arizona State cultural resources compliance; A/NRHP evaluations; site file checks and collation of Class I data; and preparation of various cultural resources reports including Class I overviews, Class III survey reports, monitoring reports, consultation letters, and due diligence memos.
Field assignments would consist of a variety of projects, including archaeological survey, construction monitoring, testing, data recovery, and historic documentation. These assignments would requires preparing detailed field notes and archaeological site records, conducting research, and writing reports.
Candidates must be able and willing to work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions, often traversing rugged terrain. Must demonstrate awareness for workplace safety and be willing to work independently or with limited supervision when conditions are appropriate. Candidates should include selected publication references and technical report writing sample along with the resume submitted for consideration.
• M.A. degree or higher in Anthropology or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in Southwestern archaeology.
• Mastery of MS Word, Excel, Access, Teams, Adobe, and other standard computer programs.
• Demonstrated report writing skills.
• Formatting and technical editing experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards.
• Demonstrated experience with Section 106 and Arizona State cultural resources compliance.
• Previous experience as a crew chief or field director.
Ideally, you'll also have:
• Proposal development and marketing experience.
• Relationships with Tucson-area agencies and regional stakeholders.
