We're looking for a Telecommunications Systems Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our client’s business in Phoenix, AZ . Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects, including semiconductor manufacturing, data center facilities, and other state of the art manufacturing and research facilities. You’ll thrive as you provide telecommunications systems design documentation for our client’s advanced facilities which, in turn shape our world.

This position will provide opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills within the telecommunications design industry while working to produce complex design packages for our projects. This is done in coordination with other designers, discipline leads, architects, and engineers all under one Jacobs “roof”. You will be responsible for documenting and modeling the design information within Revit and occasionally AutoCAD, under direction of our project discipline leads. Using these software platforms you will create fully coordinated 3D models across all design disciplines (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L). In addition to 3D BIM Models, you will also be responsible for coordinating and producing traditional 2D construction drawings as required. You will get a chance to design everything from Outside Plant (OSP) to inter / intra-building backbone distribution systems, communication room layouts, rack elevations, wired & wireless device plans and cable schedules. Depending on project size and scopes involved, you may also be given a chance to lead small portions of design with oversight and coordination with the discipline lead. Since all designs and calculations will be completed in accordance with the NEC, applicable TIA and other industry standards as well as client and/or Jacobs specifications, over time, you will get to experience to all facets of telecom design for these advanced facilities.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree

  • BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) and RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction industry

  • Experience with Revit design software platform

  • Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) as applicable to telecommunications design requirements

  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry association (TIA) standards

  • Experience leading single building telecommunications design projects or scopes

  • Experience editing design and construction specifications

  • Experience with start-up and commissioning of telecommunications systems

  • Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for single building telecommunications design projects or scopes with multiple phases

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ideally, you’ll also have: * *

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Telecommunications design experience in semiconductor or data centers

  • Design experience with emergency responder radio, DAS, paging, intercom, and audio-visual systems

  • Experience with Navisworks software

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam software
