At Jacobs, we don’t just lead the development and implementation of environmental characterization and remediation, we live it. Jacobs is currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our Toronto, ON office. The successful candidate will spend their time both in the office (estimated 25%) and at field sites (estimated 75%), and travel for short and medium-term assignments.
As an Environmental Field Technician, you’ll perform field investigation activities, supervise drilling, collect samples (such as soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapour), perform hydrogeological testing, provide observations during fieldwork, and develop reports.
Report to intermediate or senior project managers, supporting them in field program planning stages of work.
After receiving training, execute field work such as:
Soil and bedrock drilling and logging
Groundwater monitoring well installation and sampling
Surveying using rod and level or handheld GPS
Perform environmental contaminated sites assignments including compilation of field and analytical data
Complete rigorous and clear field documentation and participate in planning, organizing, and reporting related to field tasks
Provide oversight and supervision of subcontractors

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Minimum 2-year college diploma in environmental sciences, engineering or geology, or 1-year post-graduate diploma with a degree in science or engineering
Field experience related to contaminated sites work
Valid Driver’s license
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
Experience completing site Investigations on active construction/remediation projects, working with various drilling investigation methods (rock coring and logging experience an asset)
Experience planning and executing field work programs, including pre-ordering equipment and supplies and leading health and safety programs
