To meet our growing Canadian business needs, we are looking for a Lead Site Civil Engineer in our Toronto office. The successful individual will support a range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organizations and will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects. We work closely with colleagues across the company to ensure an integrated and solutions-driven approach to resilience and sustainability.

The successful candidate will have design experience in site grading and site servicing, as well as coordination with water resources areas such as drainage, stormwater management and low impact development (LID) technology. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and clients, and to develop and motivate others in the team. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and participate in all phases of the design and tendering of Site Civil to support our Municipal Facilities team. Projects will include design of site grading, site servicing, erosion and sediment control, as well as conventional stormwater management, infrastructure, roadway surface drainage systems, municipal storm sewers, stormwater facilities and LID measures.

  • Support and collaborate with our Conveyance, Water Resources and Buildings teams on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as with the client.

  • Have an interest in growing a specialized or dedicated team; coaching, mentoring and assisting junior team members in their career development.

  • Advise clients on the implementation, operation and maintenance of water resources works, including conventional and state-of-the-art stormwater management measures and techniques.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • 3 years of experience in design of site works, permitting and procurement.

  • Proficient in the full range of design activities, including preparation of functional and detailed design drawings and reports, permitting (eg. Site Plan Approvals, conservation authorities, MECP ECA, etc.), contract document preparation and tendering.

  • Design of site grading, site servicing, and erosion and sediment control for municipal projects, with proficiency in Civil 3D.

  • Familiarity with design of surface drainage systems, stormwater management measures and LID features, including, but not limited to water quality and quantity control.

  • Design and specifications for drainage and stormwater management infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within twelve months.

  • Thorough knowledge of municipal and provincial review processes and standards for permitting and approvals, including legislation, standards, regulations and guidelines pertaining to site works and storm water services.

  • Familiar with GTA design manuals, standards, tools and other water resources guidelines.

  • Familiar with contract administration services and requirements.

  • Outstanding abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination.

  • Strong communication, report writing, organization and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of or direct experience with industry standard CAD including Civil 3d.

  • Skilled in common desktop applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, etc.)
