At Jacobs, we don’t just lead the development and implementation of environmental compliance, we live it. As an Environmental Engineer, you will perform aspects of engineering and design functions and support environmental investigation and remediation projects, including all phases of planning, data analysis, reporting, oversight and data management. Working closely with program client leaders, technicians, operators and staff, you’ll ensure compliance and adherence to program environmental policies, rules, and operating procedures, You’ll run field investigations and coordinate and execute site-related projects all while ensuring the environmental strategy is being followed for the program.
Our Environmental Engineer:
Coordinates various environmental engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling and start up aspects of a project, and ensures the technical excellence of the environmental engineering portion of a project across all disciplines
Utilizes computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
Bases decisions on the requirements of the Laws prevailing permits, regulations, sound principles of environmental management, and sound scientific data relating to health, safety and/or the environment.
Plays an important advisory role in the mitigation of chemical contamination to soil, air, and water systems, hazardous materials incident responses and clean-ups.
Monitors and enforces provisions of the Project Operating Agreement relating to hazardous materials.
Manages independent environmental consulting forms to conduct annual audit of environmental practices and procedures at the Project.
Reviews and evaluates Project Environmental Programs and Waste Water Treatment Program • Creates and maintains environmental Records and Filing Systems as Contract Operator
Manages list of Common Use Chemicals for Project.
Obtains and maintains environmental Permits or approvals, notifications or reports on behalf of Managing Operator as Contract Operator.
Manages sampling and analysis of stormwater as required on Project for compliance with applicable laws or permits.
Reviews and approves Safety Data Sheets of newly introduced, different, or increased annual quantities of Hazardous Materials and Common Use Chemicals brought onto Project.
Ensures compliance of Above Ground Storage Tanks on the Project with applicable regulations • Reviews Occupant provided Hazardous Material spill response plans as required by laws and regulations.
Communicates and maintains a professional and healthy working relationship with regulatory agencies as required to accurately manage program compliance.
Communicates and maintains a professional and healthy working relationship with Occupants in matters related to permits, approvals, and/or notifications, modifications of permits, pursuant to environmental Laws and regulations related to the activities on or related to the Project.
Performs scheduled audits and visual environmental inspections of Occupant spaces to ensure compliance with applicable environmental Laws, permits, and regulations, the Project Operation Agreement, and Occupant’s lease. Notifies management of issues for action and resolution. Provides reports as necessary.
Manages hazardous waste disposal for site.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
5 years of environmental compliance experience
BS or MS in a chemical, environmental or engineering field
Thorough knowledge of federal regulations (e.g. CFR) and compliance requirements affecting local environmental operation.
Thorough knowledge of ARS statutes, ADEQ, PDEQ regulations affecting environmental operations.
Ideally, you'll also have:
Established Chemical or Chemistry background
Familiarity with government and public sector projects
