As a Lead Mechanic, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in Tucson, AZ at the Agua Nueva Wastewater Reclamation Facility, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on a wastewater treatment plant and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift. You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, contributing to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps or valves; replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tune engines, set valve clearance, clean, and adjust regulators; examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences; and install and sets up new equipment. You’ll assist in maintaining interior and exterior equipment and buildings; lean out pipes and perform other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required; use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld; perform duties of painter in their absence; assist in keeping maintenance records; and perform other duties as required. Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Five years of experience in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and related equipment including pumps such as Flygt, Fairbanks Morse, Durco, Prominent, Vaughan, and vertical turbine pumps which utilize mechanical seals, or similar industrial setting

  • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions

  • Proficient in the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Our project utilizes IBM Maximo

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and instruments used in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems

  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations and process control

  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification or ability to obtain

  • Knowledge of related state and federal laws and regulations

  • Limited fabrication skills

The job involves working around a wastewater environment. The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance, and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and occasional heavy lifting.

Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths up to 40’ using extension ladders, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
