Coordinate a travel schedule, with approval from project PM's, to provide onsite support for CMS projects. Manage the security profile and implementation for all systems and services slated for Certification and Accreditation (C&A)
Ensure that security processes and procedures are in line with DoE standard information security policies and standards.
Work solo or with a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to develop and maintain the SSPs (System Security Plans) and associated documentation for multiple projects.
Develop the configuration management processes and engineering documentation for security policy and implementation activities.
Maintain records and documentation on all IT systems, upgrades, patches, and connectivity configurations.
Evaluate security solutions and implementations strategies for IT systems and services and maintain operational security posture of development, integration, and deployed capabilities.
Develop, administer, and maintain project specific security training.
Ensure proper access controls are implemented for both system access and physical access to data processing facilities Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop PCs, mobile devices and peripherals Install and configure application and operating system software and upgrades
Multiple device configuration including personal device support and configuration
Remove old equipment and perform data migration to new machines
Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair personal computer systems (hardware and software), peripherals, network, and AV equipment
Assist employees via remote access, phone, or in person
Terminate, test, and troubleshoot voice, video, and data infrastructure
Administer network and communications systems, including, but not limited to, LAN and WAN systems
Knowledge of AV/VTC hardware and software, including network connections, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Contribute to the daily workflow of tickets, assisting with the triaging of tickets to the appropriate queues and technicians within the IT ticketing system
Resolve, contribute, and provide prescriptive solutions to IT needs supporting SCIF and home office IT operations and support staff
Work assigned tickets to completion in accordance with daily IT ticketing activities and projects
Assist with the administration of SCIF and home office IT information systems within NPC under the direction of the IT Director and IT Manager.
Actively participate in the implementation of hardware and software; build, upgrade, patch, and migration of systems and applications in the SCIF and home office IT environments
Monitor and schedule maintenance and backups within the SCIF
Contribute, participate, and plan throughout customer surge support efforts
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Ten (10)+ years of additional experience in an IT support role and/or ISSO experience may be substituted for degree.
Experience as an ISSO on programs and contracts to include at least one (1) of the following areas: knowledge of current security tools, hardware/software security implementation; communication protocols; and encryption techniques/tools.
Understanding SSP (System Security Plan) processes, STE/STN (Secure the Enterprise/Secure the Network) hardening and certification, and RMF (Risk Management Framework).
Understanding of NN-801 and NIST 800-171 preferred
Demonstrated on-the-job experience as a full-service IT support team member in a Windows AD environment.
In depth knowledge of Active Directory Domain Controllers
Experience working within an IT support team and ability to contribute and collaborate in daily support activity
Physical Requirements of Position: Position will require heavy use of computing systems. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. No strenuous physical activity required.
Work Environment: Generally an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers, customer, and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. This position is a remote position that may be worked from anywhere EXCEPT when onsite assistance is needed, then travel may take you to any CMS office or project site. Travel will be required, up to 25% of the time.
Equipment and Machines: Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required.
Attendance: Regular hours will be Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.
Other Essential Functions: Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers. Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion. Must take and pass a drug test and background check. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be willing to travel as needed.
