As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, our Client provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of the Nuclear Island (BNI).
This role is a member of a large integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.
The MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) Co-ordinator is part of Design Management Team (DMT) assists managing work package delivery across 4 programs (4 Nuclear Buildings) – on time, cost, quality and consistency – from the Responsible Designer (RD) to the MEH contractors for detailed design / fabrication drawings / procurement / manufacture.
Managing work package delivery across 4 programs (4 Nuclear Buildings) – on time, cost, quality and consistency.
Responsible for outlining the MEH handover stakeholder sequence (L4 schedule) and implementation into Paladin.
Manage individual MEH batch handover schedule with building managers.
Manage Earned Value progress for L4 schedule batches and roll up to L3 schedule.
Engineering Oversight for the MEH discipline.
Manage Open points and aid mitigation and closure.
Chair technical, kick-off and maturity gate reviews.
MEH discipline entry point for all Stakeholders.
Lead resource quotations for post hand over activity.
Track contractual modifications CCR’s (Contract Change Requests - used the HVAC contractor requests a change post H25 handover), CTS’s (Contract Transfer Sheet – used when the RD request the HVAC Contractor makes a change post H25 handover), Final Value Input Data
Handover of Pipes, HVAC and Electric, as well as associated supports to Constructability and Commissioning review meeting.
Attending the ERR meeting and ensuring getting a code-A (a ‘pass’ that NNB give following their review of an RD deliverable) of WIT (this is the code referring to the client Bristol office) delivery.
Final design Quality of UK delivery.
Follow every design package until the handover to client and ensure the maturity and conformity of design for WIT building.
Following -up the right implementation of the MEH components received from supplier feedback.
Taking into account the changes in the design issued by RD or supplier feedback.
Sharing the received supplier feedback and coordinate needed information for proper design of equipment, systems and layout.
Using support of Layout, Piping, HVAC and Technical coordination teams.
Working closely with the CEL (Contract Engineering Lead) of HVAC, Piping and Electrical and also with transvers piping team, who are in charge of piping calculation and supports.
Represent client within DMT and participate to meeting, workshops organised within DMT.
All Engineering Teams.
The postholder should possess good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
They should have the ability to take a strategic view, manage a multiplicity of interfaces, summarise, be proactive, and meet commitments and deadlines.
They will be required to write clearly-expressed and well-presented reports and apply logical thinking.

Note2: Based on our Client office Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
Note3: Travel and Subsistence is not paid for this role
Note4: Service Incentive - on completion of 12-month continuous service in post – there is a salary uplift of 5% paid

Qualified to engineering degree level and experience in one or more areas of Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Building Services
Experience gained from successfully delivering a similar role within large complex engineering projects
Formal PM qualification – PMQ or equivalent
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines
Highly organised with attention to detail
Ability to identify continuous improvements
Fluent in English – written & verbal
Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects
Knowledge of how a PWR operate
Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment
French language skills – written & verbal
