Our office in Warrington faces our nuclear clients, and the role will primarily be directly supporting clients who need to design, build and commission nuclear process plant across the UK. This means that most of the time is spent in client offices (including remote working), working in mixed teams of people from various companies, this is normally in Warrington but could be at other Jacobs offices in the north of England, or at client sites nationwide.

Key Responsibilities include:

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the project portfolio is managed and delivered effectively and efficiently. The role will include ensuring that new packages of work/bids are delivered successfully, whether through operational delivery or interfaces with other stakeholders whilst applying the appropriate governance.

Growth, innovation and delivering the vision underpins the successful approach and flair required to maximise opportunities.

Key responsibilities of the role include;

  • Excellent Line Management focused on the care, wellbeing, personal development and career development of our staff aligned to Jacobs core values and expectations through ‘full life cycle’ management.

  • Overall responsibility for the management and delivery of projects and tasks across the Contract Framework.

  • Developing and growing customer relationships.

  • Building relationships within Jacobs to deliver our capability as a service to our broader business and to enhance the capability of the delivery.

  • Ensure flawless project execution, meeting or beating the delivery commitments made.

  • Ensuring capability needs are clearly communicated.

  • Ensuring that all work undertaken complies with the H&S, Quality and Governance requirements of the business.

  • Ability to work remotely whilst successfully achieving deliverable based outcomes through a virtual team.

  • Producing the financial forecasts for the delivery area and ensuring that the forecasts are accurate and up to date.

  • Progressing a multi-disciplined approach with the appropriate resources including interface with business supporting functions.

  • Development with the client and JV partners of the project and portfolio strategies for best in class project delivery

  • Engagement with stakeholders and clients to develop and maintain appropriate measures and delivery methodologies.

  • Identification of improvements and drive initiatives to enhance the aims of the business and project performance to ensure maximised benefits and value-added outcomes.

  • Driving project performance in line with financial forecast and reporting project performance indicators as required.

  • Ensuring the incorporation of ‘best practice’ and LFE into the framework/project /task delivery

  • Business development through supporting identification, innovation and growth of capability

  • Management of the varying demand profiles including resource skills across the portfolio and managing the associated resource needs.

  • Identifying new opportunities and collaborating with other stakeholders to realise benefits.

  • Coordination of resourcing/recruitment needs, including participation in candidate interviews, candidate selection and approval process.



  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical or business discipline

  • Ability to think strategically and clearly define, communicate and deliver a business strategy.

  • Experience of business development and the production of winning bids for the provision of successful technical services and consultancy that comply with corporate governance.

  • Good understanding of financial and commercial aspects of operations management.

  • Able to communicate effectively and develop relationships with at all levels of the business and external organisations.

  • A clear focus on collaboration and growth

  • Excellent written and verbal communications

  • Effective / Competent Computerised systems skills

  • Good understanding of Project Management principles and techniques


  • Management of projects / contracts.

  • Delivery in a highly regulated sector.

  • Commercial awareness including experience of NEC contracting.

  • Delivery of innovative technological solutions.
