Your Impact:
As a Civil/Construction Engineer, you will assist the on-site construction manager with daily reporting, subcontractor oversight, verification of site preparation and excavation activities using GPS equipment and working with the onsite management team to assure the safe operation of daily construction activities. The field engineer’s daily activities will also include report writing, work plan preparation, assisting the Deputy Project Manager with cost tracking, assisting the onsite Quality Control Manager with review of previous day’s activities and working with subcontractors to prepare daily figures documenting site work using AutoCAD and GIS software.
This position is client facing with an emphasis on ensuring quality, schedule, and cost. You will participate in planning, field oversight, inspections, scheduling, general design, design change disposition and procurement tasks as assigned.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2 or more years of relevant engineering experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Fundamentals of Engineering registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
Experience with USACE or commercial construction projects.
An understanding of engineering and construction practices, and the ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical submittals for compliance
Working knowledge of computer software systems for processing Submittals, includes AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft office suite and Databases
Ability to perform and assist with site layout and grading using GPS and survey equipment
Ability to maintain continuous communication with the Contract Manager, Project Controls Manager, Senior Engineer(s), and Client personnel.
Must be able to walk long distances over potential rough terrain in all types of typical weather conditions. Exposure to weather elements while in the field is expected.
The ability to climb stairs and ladders to inspect work
USA citizenship is required (No dual citizenship)
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Construction project experience
Survey and GPS experience
Resides a commutable distance from Vandergrift, PA
Essential Functions
Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried for 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work at construction job site equipment when in the field, will work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights. Ability to work in Level B, C and D personal protective equipment during remedial construction activities.

The work location for this position is Vandergrift, PA.
