We are looking for a diligent, driven intern to support our growing Ports & Maritime business in the Hampton Roads area. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be working on projects in the transportation sector, focusing on major maritime projects with the Port of Virginia, US Army Corps of Engineers, and the US Navy, among other regional clients.
The tasks you will be performing will include the following:
Interface with other interns, entry-level engineers, and team members to grow your network and understand the other sub-disciplines within the transportation sector
Perform production-associated activities for design projects including steel and concrete structures, geotechnical assessments, drainage and utilities, pavement and site development.
Learn the tasks associated with the full project life cycle, from project initiation through to production, bidding, and construction.
Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of solutions and systems for public infrastructure applications.
Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for use during project bidding and construction.
Use computer-assisted engineering software to perform engineering analysis and design tasks.
Provide field services during site investigations and construction.
Perform field observations where appropriate.
Prepare meeting records and progress reports.

General knowledge of structural design and materials.
Proficiency in the MS Office suite of products
The following skills are preferred but not required:
AutoCAD / Civil 3D / Revit drafting and analysis.
Modelling, analysis, and design using structural modelling software (e.g. STAAD, SAP, ETABS, etc).
