Jacobs Water Resource Engineer - Intermediate in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Prepare preliminary engineering reports including collecting and analyzing data. Perform engineering calculations, determining the best solution for the design application, making recommendations in order to present and establish the basis of design for projects. Plan and design projects, Interact with clients, public and external stakeholders as well as coordinate with project team members to ensure project deliverables meet client specifications, are delivered on schedule and on budget. Manage contracts and monitor project expenditure. Conduct field site visits to oversee construction and condition assessment activities. Prepare NPDES permit applications and assist municipalities and federal agencies in meeting regulatory requirements for drinking water, stormwater and sanitary sewer systems. Review site development and stormwater management plans for compliance with VSMP regulations, review complex drainage plans and/or studies for various stormwater infrastructure systems including design documents and prepare detailed feedback. Perform engineering services to support municipal separate storm sewer permit compliance including Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load Action Plan development and compliance.

Telecommuting is allowed.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or closely related field and 3 years of work experience in the job offered (Water Resource Engineering ) or related occupation.

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or closely related field and 1 year of work experience in the job offered (Water Resource Engineering ) or related occupation.

  • Expertise/ knowledge of: Knowledge of municipal and state review processes and standards.

  • Working knowledge and ability to read site development plans, blueprints and engineering drawings. Knowledgeable about NEPA guidelines and experienced in preparation of environmental impact assessment documents.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Microstation.

  • Proficient in water modeling software such as WaterCAD, PCSWMM or EPA SWMM.

  • Ability to develop drinking water and surface water sampling plans and experienced in using water sampling equipment. Experience with ArcGIS. Proficient in use of ProjectWise. Ability to understand/interpret geotechnical reports.

  • Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
