About the Opportunity

Are you looking for an exciting role to develop your career in the Nuclear Sector supporting UK energy infrastructure, progressively working towards Net Zero and delivering high level projects with a global business where the possibilities are limitless?

Jacobs are seeking the next generation of Nuclear Professionals and are recruiting for a number of roles across our EDF Framework Delivery Team, which supports our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with regards their nuclear fleet in the UK. Specific disciplines are:

  • Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (any bias)

  • Project Engineer – Electrical

  • Project Engineer – Mechanical

  • Project Engineer – Civil

  • Project Management

Opportunities exist across the station fleet, key localities are Gloucester, Heysham, Hinkley Point B, Sizewell B and Torness. Each location has a range of projects to be considered due to the various stages of lifecycle across the sites, ranging from existing power generation and systems support up to decommissioning programs.

  • The roles are accountable to the client Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and/or Construction Manager for successful delivery of all aspects of assigned projects.

  • Roles will be station based at EDF locations and will require occasional business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.

As we are looking to develop the next generation of talent within nuclear, previous experience is not essential, additionally, new colleagues within Jacobs are enrolled onto the New to Nuclear Academy to support their journey into the sector, develop key skills, safety philosophy and to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of the industry.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Degree qualified in the relevant discipline; Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Controls/Instrumentation

  • For Project Management, working towards APMP formal project management qualification

  • A willingness to learn and develop skills continuously seeking guidance and support from your team colleagues whilst maintaining a questioning mindset

  • Previous work experience within heavy industry or regulated sectors beneficial but not essential

  • An understanding and knowledge of engineering, design, procurement, safety case, construction and installation/commissioning management and commercial contracting again beneficial but not essential

  • Ability to manage the delivery of assigned small projects, jobs and tasks ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with the relevant procedures

  • Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable technical, safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
