HVAC Technician


Recording and adjusting of system parameters to ensure proper operation and for optimal system efficiencies of equipment. Assists electricians, refrigeration mechanics, and millwrights as needed.

Duties require the HVAC Technician to troubleshoot and perform or coordinate preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), corrective maintenance (CM – repair), and installation of equipment and systems. Specific duties include:

  • Safely operate the facility in accordance with all applicable government and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform maintenance and monitoring repairs to the refrigeration, electrical, steam, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, structural, to keep building systems up to applicable standards.

  • Maintaining all plant logs and reports as required.

  • Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner, ability to troubleshoot and repair facility systems, problem solve

  • Assist site Facility Management team with emergency situations (e.g., fire alarms, chemical spills, and hazardous conditions) and take appropriate actions.

  • Start up and shutdown of facility systems.

Use in a safe and appropriate manner common hand tools and troubleshoot equipment and control systems involving single or multiple integrated systems. Request support from vendors as necessary, perform inspections and repair of installed systems, visually inspect assigned equipment to identify problems such as leaks, unusual noises & smells, excessive temperature, proper fluid levels, filter cleanliness, power supply problems, and perform follow-up repairs or coordinate to make repairs when problems are found.

Must accurately record information related to maintenance activities Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including the creation, editing, and closing of work orders, and clearly communicate in a timely manner the status of work efforts and activities to responsible facility engineers and management.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter that can operate with minimal supervision, but will also function as a member of a Facility Team. They must be able to work independently, but always seek to expand knowledge in all assigned areas. They must be capable of safely stopping work when interrupted. Must be able to communicate clearly.

The candidate will be required to become familiar and comply with company policies for safety, and security.

Services will be delivered exclusively at a client facility in Warren, MI.


Licensed/Certification (preferred), Industrial / Commercial HVAC Technician or associates degree in a technical discipline or related trade school with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in HVAC/refrigeration trade or related field. Preference will be given to those with Universal EPA Refrigerant Recovery and Training Certified. The successful candidate must possess knowledge of the operation and maintenance for mechanical systems; must have strong verbal and written communications skills accompanied by good organizational skills.

  • Be capable of safely stopping work when interrupted

  • Provide constructive feedback on maintenance tasks and the manner in which they are executed

  • Display confidence and ask questions

  • Communicate clearly (verbal, reading, writing, and listening) with customers and inter-department teammates

  • Good collaboration skills, able to work with multiple people and manage a variety of projects simultaneously.

  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills.

  • Read and interpret technical literature and manufacturers’ specifications

  • Proficient with PCs and common software, e.g. Microsoft Excel®, Word®, PowerPoint®, Outlook®, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Experience with CMMS software (preferred): CWorks, ManagerPlus, SAP, Maximo, etc.

  • Possess knowledge accompanied by experience on compressors and control valves required for facility integration.


Unusual or Special Physical Requirements of Position

Ability to perform field work in tight spaces, maneuver in and around facility equipment while obtaining measurements and performing equipment inspections and troubleshooting- 25%

Requires the physical ability to walk around a large facility, up and down stairs, climb fixed ladders, etc.- 50%

High noise level- 25%

Work Environment

Field work may bring individual into close proximity of extreme high or low temperatures, high speed rotating equipment, and high noise levels; primarily inside with occasional outside work- 25%

Other Essential Functions

Ability to work well with clients and equipment vendors as well as function in a Team environment.

Must be a US Citizen

Must take and pass a drug screening test.
