Key Responsibilities include:

Supporting the Cumbria Projects business by providing effective commercial management in accordance with all relevant Jacobs policies and procedures, reporting to the Head of Commercial – Decommissioning.

Key objectives

• Provide support to work winning efforts and effecting tender strategies;

• Advising and supporting on Risk Mitigation techniques in all commercial aspects of pre and post contract activities;

• Managing liabilities;

• Ensuring effective governance and adherence to relevant policies and procedures;

• Lead commercial activities of key framework contracts

Detailed description

• ensuring the right collaborative behaviours, ethics and safety standards are applied in accordance with the Jacobs values;

• oversight of end life forecast on all projects within the portfolio to ensure operating profit is maintained and commercial issued are identified, changes are reported in a timely manner, identify and support the mitigation of risks which will have an impact on gross margin;

• ongoing monitoring of costs to ensure value for money for both the client and Jacobs

• attending and contributing to monthly project reviews;

• attendance at project / framework meetings, quarterly commercial meetings and other commitments under the current framework contracts;

• attendance / involvement in the tender review / assessment process, ensuring Jacobs governance is adhered to prior to submission to client;

• close liaison with operations managers and lead team in all daily operational activities;

• provision of commercial advice to business and project managers and ensuring adequate commercial awareness training is provided;

• provision of commercial management assistance for Invitations to Tender received;

• preparation and negotiation of variations, contract amendment and claims;

• preparation, review and negotiation of terms and conditions of contract for new projects and clients and provide guidance where necessary;

• interface with the supply chain organisation to ensure that sub-contracts are placed and managed in accordance with relevant Jacobs policies and procedures and in a manner, which optimises Jacobs commercial position.

• coaching of junior staff members within the commercial team, ensuring project workload is maintained and training needs are met;

• support junior members of the team to ensure academic targets are maintained and development is progressing as planned / expected;

• developing new business relationships and securing new opportunities outside current portfolio of projects and business streams;

• ensuring all relevant records are kept as appropriate, monitor and maintain project documentation records and registers to ensure compliance with client and Jacobs policies, procedures and expectations
