About the opportunity:
AXIOM is one of the DSA alliance partners and is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) made up of four major engineering contracting companies each with complementary capabilities and skills. The members have excellent nuclear pedigrees, demonstrated expertise and effective track records across the UK nuclear fleet and related nuclear industries.
AXIOM provides process, mechanical, civil structural and architectural, electrical, instrumentation, control and safety capabilities to support Sellafield Ltd.
As well as having a large, dedicated team working for Sellafield Ltd, each has immense reach-back capability into parent organisations for knowledge, expertise and innovations gained from within, and external to, the nuclear industry. Examples of other markets include Oil and Gas, Environment, Mining and Aerospace.
The extensive capacity and capabilities of the AXIOM alliance provide the essential expertise that is crucial to achieving both the designs of the alliance and the wider goals of Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
You will be joining a large existing team that clearly understands the different requirements for optioneering, solution inspired, design decommissioning, operating plant asset care, infrastructure and new builds.
As a result of an increasing portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead CS&A Engineer to join the Flask Maintenance Enabling Project (FMEP) team in Birchwood, Warrington.
Oversight to FMEP Early Strip Out
Interface with Integrated Design Team, Facility Team (including systems engineering), other project functions
Other FMEP scope may also arise.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Degree qualified CS&A Engineer (Chartered status will be an advantage).
Knowledge and experience in project delivery with experience of project - and tactical-level optioneering and front-end design.
Production of CS&A design documents e.g. civil and structural calculations (design/assessment/substantiation), engineering drawings, specifications, scopes of work, method statements
Proficient in Steel and Concrete design to current codes
Knowledge of CDM and design responsibilities
Capable of independent and autonomous work during the delivery of packages
Ability to actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, facility and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit for purpose solutions
Ability to present information in forms specifically aimed at a variety of target audiences
Experience of leading work packages; providing guidance to junior engineers in establishing solutions to technical problems
Proficient in analysis/design packages ie. STAAD.Pro for Steel and Concrete analysis/design.
Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, Visio, Power point, Outlook, etc) and use of Navisworks Freedom
Experience with the below will be treated as an advantage
Crane modification (design and implementation),
Major plant modification (design and implementation),
Temporary works – specification of requirements & review of returns,
Integration with Site Master Planning,
Nuclear Safety and Hazard Management,
Environmental and Nuclear Waste Management (including BAT studies),
Knowledge of cladding/waterproofing details.
