About the Opportunity

Our business is responsible for the largest independent nuclear laboratories in the UK, delivering projects from consultancy, assurance and regulation, through to test rigs and prototypes. We are leading the way with our robotics team developing innovative solutions to access some of the most challenging environments for our clients. We work collaboratively with both colleagues and clients using the full breadth of our capability to provide the right answers to complex problems. Our teams work cross-sector; from hydrogen, fusion, Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) through to supporting decommissioning, remediation, existing nuclear, non-nuclear infrastructure, space and defence.

We are seeking an Operational Sales Manager to join TC&I who will be responsible for:

  • Provide compelling offers to our customers, that are compliant, clear, credible, and concise, using applicable tools, guidelines and templates.

  • Understand and be familiar in adoption of Project Management principles and be able to support the development of project execution plans, pricing, planning and risk management activities

  • Ensure end to end bid delivery excellence in line with Jacobs bidding (end game) process

  • Lead in the development and implementation of opportunities, through the capture and bidding process, developing win plans, storyboards and bid plans that ensure the offering is compelling by directing tactics and controlling bid progress

  • Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to think beyond the realms of the bid or proposition. Collects company data or conducts internal/external research as appropriate for opportunity response documents and/or strategy development

  • Effective team player including leading a technical bid team to a successful submission – this role requires significant collaboration with others

  • Develops appropriate network within the company to facilitate identification and sharing of relevant information, best practices etc. between office/teams

  • Customer facing when required. Confident communications both verbally and written and with a forward-thinking approach, directing customer relationships, interpreting strategic importance and tactical partnering

Here’s what you’ll need :

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following

  • Ability to understand and solve customer issues – encouraging early engagement on opportunities via customer value propositions

  • Ability to influence and drive relationships forward both internally and externally using strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Willingness to support others and have a strong collaborative ethos

  • Ability to use Learning from your experience in projects, programmes, bids, proposals etc. to ensure we use experience to enhance our performance

  • Delivery background, ideally in a project delivery team experience, while demonstrating passion about delivery, quality, and presentation of proposals

Desirable but not essential skills/qualifications

  • Previous experience of working with nuclear customers and / or Technology and Consultancy Business and / or Sales/Business Development Function desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or technical or related discipline. Similar working level obtained through relevant job experience may be accepted in lieu of degree level education
