About the Opportunity
Jacobs is currently recruiting for a Radiation Protection Adviser, work across a range of projects form small non-nuclear through to large scale Nuclear Decommissioning Projects. The role also offers the opportunity to apply this core knowledge to other closely related technical areas such as dose assessment modelling, shielding, waste management and characterisation, transport of radioactive materials and radiation protection instrumentation. Jacobs hold a diverse portfolio of projects and frameworks, which provide an excellent opportunity for career development.
We will also provide an excellent opportunity for an RPA to develop and gain experience in the Nuclear Industry.
Responsibilities:
To act as the Technical Lead on projects, liaising with Clients, Regulatory Bodies and other stakeholders to ensure needs are met and clients are satisfied.
Typical projects include:
Providing radiological protection advice and support, defining and monitoring standards and behaviour
Development and delivery of specialist radiological training
Carrying out audits (internal and external) and recommending corrective action and improvements
Undertaking Radiological Risk Assessments and managing change as required, including correct designation of areas
Ensuring suitable Local Rules are developed and maintained in order that Radiation Protection Supervisors can monitor compliance
To critically review, analyse and summarise data in order to draw conclusions and make recommendations to clients in the form of a report and to check the work of others
To undertake practical radiological and environmental assessments
Coaching and mentoring staff to ensure continued professional development, reviewing portfolio and supporting applications to the RPA2000 scheme
To develop business capability through innovation, excellence in delivery, representation at industry forums and technical development
To support the corporate radiation protection body to ensure Jacobs continued compliance and strong relationships with key regulators
Working with the Operations Manager to grow the Business through client liaison, marketing, developing key client relationships, prospect management and tendering
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Qualifications - External
Significant experience in your technical field and your ability to build client relationships will enable the Radiological Business to achieve its full growth potential.
Experienced professional with several years’ experience of Health Physics including operational support and advising on compliance with current legislation.
Degree qualified in science or mathematics or Chartered Professional
RPA 2000 accreditation
Valid UK driving license
Operational experience as a Radiation Protection Supervisor, Health Physicist or Radiation Protection Advisor
The ability to write well-structured reports that present clear argument with a sound basis for recommendations
The ability to confidently communicate with a wide range of staff and managers on Health Physics issues and influence decision making.
