About the opportunity:

AXIOM is one of the DSA alliance partners and is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) made up of four major engineering contracting companies each with complementary capabilities and skills. The members have excellent nuclear pedigrees, demonstrated expertise and effective track records across the UK nuclear fleet and related nuclear industries.

AXIOM provides process, mechanical, civil structural and architectural, electrical, instrumentation, control and safety capabilities to support Sellafield Ltd.

The extensive capacity and capabilities of the AXIOM alliance provide the essential expertise that is crucial to achieving both the designs of the alliance and the wider goals of Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

We are looking for a Senior CS&A Engineer to join our team in Birchwood Park, Warrington. You will be required to travel to site (Sellafield) or Glasgow offices once/twice a month (dependent on project requirements)

You will lead delivery of the CS&A elements of projects, in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.

In particular you will:

  • Link with the CS&A Responsible Engineer and collaborate with Safety and other engineering disciplines to meet project objectives and milestones.

  • Coordinate and deliver CS&A design tasks (designs, assessments, drawings, and reports), checking and approving the output.

  • Monitor and reporting progress against delivery schedules.

  • Provide support to supply chain in production of their deliverables to enable RE acceptance (inc. CS&A design deliverables and installation scaffold builds).

  • Liaise with stakeholders (plant personnel, system engineers, construction team etc)

  • Undertake site inspections to confirm design scope and to develop design solutions.

  • Produce design and assessment calculation packages, CS&A documents and inputting into multi-discipline documents (e.g. NFRs, BoD, DJRs)

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • General all round civil and structural design experience required, with experience working on alterations and modifications to existing structures amongst other asset care type projects.

  • Experience of managing project deliverables, working as part of a team and managing stakeholders.

  • Experience required in the static and seismic design of concrete (to ACI 318), steel and masonry structures (essential)

  • Experienced in writing safety case documents (e.g. DARs and DJRs) (preferred).
