About the Opportunity

To support the Study manager and Technical Lead in delivery of mechanical based work. Tanks farm specific requirements include

  • Plant and equipment size reduction and retrievals from legacy buildings with limited access and remote operations.

  • Options for crane coverage over large buildings within the confines of the SL separation area

General requirements: definition, implementation and delivery of engineering design work packages (specification, analysis, verification or assessment of engineering to a level which is capable of supporting study transition into project delivery):

  • Strategic/big picture assessments.

  • Use of LFE.

  • Quantifying technical and engineering risk (conventional and nuclear safety)

  • Underpinning of decision process with respect to preferred solutions

  • Plan the mechanical Discipline Engineering work and deliverables to best support the study

  • Delivery of quality mechanical based engineering deliverables to support a study transition into a project

  • Direct the mechanical engineering aspects for any packages of research and development work being executed externally in the supply chain for the study.

  • Work collaboratively with the study team.

  • Ensure that governance and assurance is applied to work, such that decisions are recorded, agreed and auditable to have been made by the right people using the right information and following the agreed approach.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Higher education qualification/degree or equivalent

  • Appropriate Institution Membership (Management, Engineering or Scientific). Normally Chartered Member or equivalent of relevant Institution

  • Demonstrable experience of innovative ideas and front end design/study work showing creativity and fit for purpose solutions.

  • Background experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions which involved influencing and supporting a wide range of senior stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • 10 plus year’s experience in roles where engineering knowledge was a key attribute.
