Jacobs acts as the Technical Advisor to PEJ Sp z.o.o. (PEJ), which is the state-owned entity responsible for delivering Poland’s nuclear power programme. Jacobs role is that of an “Owner’s Engineer”, which is not involved directly in any Nuclear Power Programme (NPP) design or construction activity, but rather acts as an advocate for the Client, applying technical due diligence to all aspects of the process, along with supply chain and contract management support for plant and equipment vendors engaged by the Client.

Jacobs fulfils this function through the delivery of engineering and technical packages of work (referred to as Service Authorisations (SA)) which require the development, approval, implementation and reporting of a diverse range of engineering and technical methods by suitably qualified and experienced team members.

In addition to the PEJ programme, Jacobs has positioned themselves as a key advisor to other developers emerging within the Poland Nuclear Power Programme.

We are recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join our Poland Clean Energy Nuclear New Build team.

As a Commercial Manager within our New Nuclear Power business, you will be involved in technically challenging roles in career-defining programmes.The Commercial Manager within the Jacobs team is a key role within an integrated delivery team with significant responsibility. Whilst you will be the principle point of contact for your area of responsibility, you will be expected to work as a valued subject matter expert within the wider team to facilitate the best outcomes for our Clients.You will report to a Senior Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead.

As a Commercial Manager you may be responsible for leading a professional commercial team.

  • Delivery of the Jacobs, CMS and CMS-I strategy and key outcomes, as a team member of the Jacobs Nuclear Power Projects Commercial team.

  • Shaping customer thinking and supporting customers change programmes.

  • An entrepreneurial approach, contributing to innovative and smarter value propositions and pricing/commercial offerings.

All measured through Client Satisfaction Survey scores, customer feedback, health of the prospect pipeline, sales bookings, win rates, and ultimately overall achievement of delivery targets.

Delivery Excellence:

  • Ensuring that operations are transparent, ethical, effective, efficient and in line with the Jacobs vision, mission and strategic goals, with appropriate governance in line with company policy.

  • Cultivating Innovation and creating new and better ways for the framework to be successful and drive positive change and continuous improvement.

  • Embedding sustainability in solutions and project delivery.

  • Effective management of delegated commercial scope of work, together with the day-to-day supervision of any Commercial Assistants for which you are responsible, in accordance with Jacobs and Client governance and delegated authority.

  • Managing Supplier / Contractor commercial relationships.

  • Providing support to Procurement processes.

  • Commercial management of allocated contracts, including contract notifications, change management and payment processes.

  • Commercial management of contract conclusion, including agreement of final accounts.

  • Professional development of self and people within the team.

  • Stepping up to address difficult issues — saying what needs to be said and doing what needs to be done

All measured by project KPI achievement, zero write downs and excellent Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS) scores and ultimately overall achievement of delivery targets.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Effective commercial / contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.

  • Strong leadership, collaborative and team working skills, with the ability to act as deputy.

  • Able to demonstrate a considerable track record of successful procurement and effective contract administration.

  • Highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.

  • Good understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.

  • Track record with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within major infrastructure projects and programme environment; with knowledge of legal matters and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.

  • Good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.

  • Comfortable in managing stakeholders effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in regulated industries

  • Knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy

  • Member of the RICS / CIPS or equivalent professional body

  • Knowledge of French or Polish language would be advantageous.

  • SC level clearance
