Jacobs acts as the Technical Advisor to PEJ Sp z.o.o. (PEJ), which is the state-owned entity responsible for delivering Poland’s nuclear power programme. Jacobs role is that of an “Owner’s Engineer”, which is not involved directly in any Nuclear Power Programme (NPP) design or construction activity, but rather acts as an advocate for the Client, applying technical due diligence to all aspects of the process, along with supply chain and contract management support for plant and equipment vendors engaged by the Client.

Jacobs is recruiting for a Planner to join our Poland Clean Energy Nuclear New Build team. This is a key role within our rapidly growing Project Controls team based in Warsaw supporting our client, and this role will support several projects within their PEJ EJ1 new build project through the entire project development and delivery lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To deliver a complete project planning capability to both internal and external stakeholders

  • To undertake all aspects of Planning and scheduling utilising Jacobs processes and procedures and tools to support the seamless delivery of the projects.

  • Obtain buy-in to the schedule from the whole project team and co-ordinate schedule interfaces between the different control and subcontract areas.

  • Develop work breakdown structures in accordance with planning procedures and work instructions to meet the project’s needs.

  • Work closely with the project cost/ risk engineer and estimator to provide a seamless service to the project team.

  • Develop and promote with others in the Jacobs planning management community: Best Practice processes, procedures, tools and techniques and mechanisms for their practical application.

  • The highest degree of professional application in the planning discipline and working relationships

  • Undertake or Assist with the delivery of Interactive Planning sessions

  • Assist in the overall delivery of the project by the team

  • Assist continuous improvement of safety and performance

Planner will be accountable for:

  • Ensuring the delivery of security, quality, environment, safety and health performance in accordance with the requirements of Jacobs SQESH policy and SQESH management systems within all areas of this roles’ responsibility

  • For implementing best practice project planning policy, processes and procedures on projects

  • Accurately identifying, controlling and forecasting the time scales and resource requirements of projects to minimise the likelihood of time overruns

  • Co-ordinating the flow of information to ensure that interfaces both within projects are effectively managed to optimise efficiencies

  • Developing and incorporating critical path, resource and programme risk analysis into resource allocations and the monitoring and reporting of progress against that planned

  • Progressing programmes, monitoring and reporting on project performance, highlighting deviations, providing early warnings and identifying and presenting project slippage recovery strategies

  • Summarising data through the programme hierarchy from detail to summary levels

  • Developing and managing a database to capture and identify work rate norms and trends, earned value and performance indicators

  • Responding to customer feedback on planning performance.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience undertaking planning for the life cycle of a project.

  • Experience of front-end planning and the design procurement and construction of a variety of facilities including major capital projects (Nuclear), Civil Projects, accommodation, infrastructure, manufacturing, research, and testing facilities in both conventional and hazardous environments

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of technical standards and regulatory requirements for the design and construction appropriate to both conventional and hazardous environments.

  • Knowledge and use of earned value techniques.

  • Understanding of the inter-relationships of multidiscipline design activities and their impact onto procurement and construction activities

  • Understanding of Construction contracts

  • Must have demonstrable experience of planning within related industries, ie, engineering, construction, manufacturing, commissioning, or research projects within conventional and hazardous environments.

  • Good technical skills including problem-solving and decision making

  • Advanced level of English

  • Good oral, written and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for presentation of data for analysis and review

  • Strong team working, interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communication to all levels to both internal and external personnel

  • Familiarity with standard office software including Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook

  • A proven ability to manage team members and junior staff is desirable

  • Competence with proprietary planning software (ideally Primavera P6)

Experience delivering projects in a nuclear environment (nuclear new build or nuclear power plant operations) is preferred but not essential.
