.Jacobs acts as the Technical Advisor to PEJ Sp z.o.o. (PEJ), which is the state-owned entity responsible for delivering Poland’s nuclear power programme. Jacobs role is that of an “Owner’s Engineer”, which is not involved directly in any Nuclear Power Programme (NPP) design or construction activity, but rather acts as an advocate for the Client, applying technical due diligence to all aspects of the process, along with supply chain and contract management support for plant and equipment vendors engaged by the Client.

Jacobs is recruiting for a Risk Manager to join our Poland Clean Energy Nuclear New Build team. This is a key role within our rapidly growing Project Controls team based in Warsaw supporting our client, and this role will support several projects within their PEJ EJ1 new build project through the entire project development and delivery lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the implementation of Project risk management policy, processes, procedures, and systems to ensure quality and consistency of data is maintained.

  • Ensuring that all relevant personnel are aware of their risk responsibilities.

  • Creating and managing risk registers to meet the programme and project requirements in the business systems (ARM).

  • To monitor risks monthly.

  • Preparation of risk information relating to ad hoc requests from projects and the business.

  • Co-ordinating the flow of risk information to ensure that interfaces within projects are effectively managed to optimise efficiencies.

  • Reporting the monthly status of risk management to stakeholders.

  • Contributing to improving the quality and performance of risk management processes and systems.

  • Undertaking the modelling (qualitative and quantitative), three-point estimates, schedules, and risk registers at each stage of the project delivery process per company procedures and client requirements.

  • Facilitating the effective identification and management of project risks.

  • Identifying risks that require escalation to other parts of the business

  • Ensuring understanding and application of all aspects regarding the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.

  • Providing risk management service within a comprehensive project team for either a major project or multiple projects.

  • To collaborate and provide support for colleagues in projects in the delivery of investment appraisal requirements.

  • Collaboration with project managers to support the effective and efficient application of risk management.

  • Working with colleagues throughout the business to share experiences of risk management in the areas of best practice processes, procedures, tools, techniques, and mechanisms for their practical application.

  • Advising clients on best practices concerning Risk Management processes, procedures, and tools.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience in undertaking all aspects of risk management for the life cycle of a project.

  • Experience in front-end Project delivery and the design, procurement and construction of a variety of facilities including major capital projects (Nuclear), Civil Projects, accommodation, infrastructure, manufacturing, research, and testing facilities in both conventional and hazardous environments.

  • Expert in Project Risk Management Process and Principles

  • Knowledge of Project Management principles

  • Knowledge of Project services principles covering risk, estimating, planning, cost control, change management, value management.

  • Knowledge of risk management software particularly ARM,

  • Fully converse in undertaking both qualitative and quantitative cost and schedule assessments

  • Good technical skills including problem solving and decision making.

  • Very good level of English

  • Good oral, written, and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for presentation of data for analysis and review.

  • Good teamworking skills.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communication at all levels with both internal and external personnel.

  • Familiarity with standard MS Office software including Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.

  • A proven ability to manage team members and junior staff is desirable.

  • Competence with proprietary risk software (ideally ARM).

  • Good facilitator with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

  • Flexibility and mobility to undertake business travel as required.

Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture. Experience delivering projects in a nuclear environment (nuclear new build or nuclear power plant operations) is preferred but not essential.
