About the Opportunity

Jacobs acts as the Technical Advisor to PEJ Sp z.o.o. (PEJ), which is the state-owned entity responsible for delivering Poland’s nuclear power programme. The Technical Advisor’s role is that of an “Owner’s Engineer”, which is not involved directly in any NPP design or construction activity, but rather acts as an advocate for the Client, applying technical due diligence to all aspects of the process, along with supply chain and contract management support for plant and equipment vendors engaged by the Client. The Technical Advisor fulfils this function through the delivery of engineering and technical packages of work (referred to as Service Authorisations) which require the development, approval, implementation and reporting of a diverse range of engineering and technical methods by suitably qualified and experienced team members.

The role of Technical Advisor’s Engineering Manager is to lead the engineering and technical programme of work, assist PEJ with the definition of the Technical Advisor’s programme of work and to assure the quality of deliverables that are prepared by the Technical Advisor. The Engineering Manager collaborates with other project functions and is supported by a team of technical resources.

The Engineering Manager is accountable to the Technical Advisor’s Project Director for:

  • Assuring that all deliverables prepared by the Technical Advisor fulfil the requirements of the client, are consistent across all workstreams and are developed in accordance with the Jacobs business management systems;

  • Assuring the competency of all of the Technical Advisor’s team members to perform the roles assigned to them on the project;

  • The development and implementation of a strategy for engineering and technical activities associated with the Polish Nuclear Power Project;

  • The development of an engineering and technical organisation within the Technical Advisor as well as within the Client’s organization to support the implementation of the Polish Nuclear Power Project.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for:

  • Coordination and integration of engineering and technical aspects within the development of the Polish Nuclear Power Project;

  • Approval of engineering and technical deliverables;

  • Management of engineering and technical team members assigned to the Performance Unit;

  • Defining future programmes of work to be undertaken by the Technical Advisor;

  • Identification of future engineering and technical roles and the associated recruitment of engineering and technical team members;

  • Approval of new team members prior to their deployment to the Technical Advisor;

  • Defining and implementing development needs within the Technical Advisor team;

  • Provision of guidance to the client and other members of the Technical Advisor team on engineering and technical matters;

  • Interacting with the client on engineering and technical matters associated with the Polish Nuclear Power Project;

This position will require extensive travel to Poland

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • University degree or equivalent in a technical subject

  • Extensive experience in similar roles

  • Strongexperience in the nuclear industry (nuclear new builds or operating existing units)

  • Having held a senior management positions in the civil nuclear energy sector, responsible for engineering delivery and covering some of the following activities:

  • Management of production and review of engineering products

  • Management and review of design changes

  • Set up and implementation of Codes and Standards frameworks as applied to advanced nuclear technologies (Gen III/ III+)

  • Management of modern Safety Case production and delivery
