Jacobs Senior Environmental Remediation Sediment Scientist / Engineer (Flexible Location/Hybrid) in Washington, District Of Columbia

We’re seeking an experienced sediment scientist or engineer to participate in complex sediment remediation projects for both federal and private clients.

Based anywhere out of the United States, you’ll have the opportunity to work on sediment projects across the country, delivering projects through the full lifecycle with a strong focus and emphasis on sediment investigation, feasibility and remedial design. You’ll grow your career as you interact with key clients to grow our business, work with technical experts to develop and implement comprehensive site strategies and deliver innovative solutions on some of the most challenging and industry-recognized sites.   • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology, environmental science or other closely related technical degree

  • At least 10 years of broad, practical field experience on sediment remediation sites in fresh and estuarine systems

  • Experience conducting and developing reports for sediment site investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, remedial designs/actions and/or optimizing remediation systems

  • Experience integrating information from multiple disciplines (for example, human health and ecological risk assessment, statistics, chemistry)

  • Experience in proactively identifying and resolving key issues impacting sediment sites (technical, regulatory, risks, land use, etc.)

  • Ability to think strategically and critically analyze details, and to gather, analyze, and synthesize data to develop technically defensible conclusions and make sound recommendations

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with contractors, team members, regulatory agencies, and clients

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist (P.E. or PG) or ability to obtain and maintain

  • Experience representing clients to stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, property owners, government officials, and other consultants

  • Experience as a Subject Matter Expert, Senior Technical Consultant, and/or Project/Task Manager for sediment projects

  • Ability to effectively interface with in-house environmental data visualization and GIS staff to develop effective data presentations
