We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer/Municipal Engineer to support our regional team and provide technical expertise and leadership on a range of water and transportation projects.

In this role you’ll have the chance to work on exciting and engaging infrastructure projects in water and transportation across Canada. As a seasoned professional, you will have the chance to mentor, learn, and work independently as a key team member. You will solve complex problems and take a broad perspective to identify innovative and resilient solutions to adapt to the climate emergency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform design and hydraulic modeling on all project aspects associated with conceptual planning, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of construction plans.

  • Complete detailed hydrological assessment to support infrastructure design projects, including potential impact of climate change

  • Responsible for site and roadway drainage design including, but not limited to civil design calculations, computer modeling, detailing, and plan set production

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations, prepare technical reports, construction plans, and specifications as required by assignments.

  • Develop pipe network systems for complex stormwater drainage systems; preparation of grading plans; designing municipal civil infrastructure including culvert systems and diversion chambers; flow split manholes and outlet control structures.

  • Analysis of surface water quality data, design of monitoring programs and assessment of potential impacts on receiving environments

  • Coordinate design development and assist in providing technical direction and mentorship to other engineers.

  • Provide quality control within drainage discipline to ensure completeness and accuracy of design team-work.

  • Peer review plans, help prepare technical specifications and estimates.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Roadway, Drainage or Transportation Engineering

  • 3-8 years related experience in civil engineering and/or water resources engineering

  • Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) or eligible.

  • Strong analytical, time management, communication & report writing skills

  • Experienced in the assessment and design of municipal water resources projects including water, wastewater, highways and roads, and stormwater systems

  • Pipe networks design and modelling for complex stormwater drainage systems.

  • Full project life cycle experience that includes complex hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.

  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling with XPSWMM, PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS or equivalent software

  • Experience using GIS and R programming language to complete hydrological and water quality data analysis

  • Experience in the field, including construction experience.
