Jacobs Petroleum & Chemicals London Office undertakes a range ofprojects within the oil, gas and chemicals industry. We are amulti-disciplinary team serving clients internationally at all stages ofprojects. We are focused mostly on Front End Engineering Design and onFramework based Detailed Design activities. We operate from offices in CentralLondon, Winnersh (Reading) and permanently located site offices on the southcoast.

Take a leading role in gearingthe document control system to best suit the needs of ECR projects, whileworking in ways to improve efficiency, information coordination (consolidatingand sharing information) and project collaboration (using technical solutionsto share information).Investigate anddevelop data management systems to facilitate the electronic control ofdocumentation and other information for ECR projects.

Key relationships and responsibilities


ØSupport the department with the management ofdata and data orientated systems.

Project Management:

ØWork with Project Management to betterunderstand project and client requirements in order to develop and adaptexisting document control systems to suit project requirements.

ØInvestigate, specify and implement new datamanagement systems to facilitate information sharing across projects.

ØDevelop a reporting regime for projects givingclarity about the status of projects at any point in time.

Engineering Team leads:

ØBuild relationships to better understanddiscipline technical requirements and restrictions with regard to documentcontrol systems.

ØProvide document control specific training tothe teams to reduce the number of metadata quality errors experienced by theDocument Control team.

ØProvide JPI training.

Document Control:

ØManage and maintain the Document Control team.

ØCommunicate and coordinate information betweenthe Project Engineers and the Document Control team.


ØTo understand the client requirements and wherepossible adapt the management of information to better suit the needs of theclient.


ØInvestigate common metadata errors on documentsubmissions and work with Vendors to improve the quality of document submissions(with regard to metadata).

ØInvestigate new methods for transmittingdocumentation.

Key Tasks

ØIdentify document control activities suitablefor the GID team.

ØProvide JPI Training, including ‘use oftemplate’ training and understanding the importance of the metadata.

ØIdentify common metadata quality errors andworking with discipline teams to reduce the number experienced by the DocumentControl team.

ØFacilitate communication between documentcontrol/engineering/JPI support; including communication of program (expectedworkload), and develop and adapt JPI to suit better individual disciplinerequirements. For example, ISO naming conventions, electrical line diagramprinting configuration settings and defining automatic JPI file namingconventions.

ØInvestigate the success of Bluebeam on the trialproject and implement across all projects if it has been successful.

ØDevelop reporting.

ØDevelop templates.

ØDevelop workflows to suit new and changingproject requirements.

ØProduce and maintain a Document Control teamwork schedule.

ØImprove Package production.

ØProficient in MS Excel, including the ability towrite VBA.

ØTechnically minded.

ØGood communication skills.

ØIn depth knowledge of JPI.

Ability to marry up technical systems with projectrequirements.
