About the opportunity
Jacobs Transportation has an enviable reputation in Highways, Rail and Aviation. The Highways UK infrastructure consultancy sector includes a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients that include Highways England (HE), Transport Scotland, Welsh Government, national and regional contractors and several significant Local Authorities. Our Rail team provides a comprehensive passenger and freight consultancy and engineering services to the rail sector, covering the full spectrum of railway infrastructure requirements, from business case and project development, preliminary appraisal and feasibility studies through to detailed design, implementation and operational management advice. Our internationally respected Aviation team are active at all major UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, with a growing portfolio of overseas commissions.
Jacobs are looking for Principal Project Controllers who will lead and manage project controls in technical consultancy services to major clients in the Transportation sector delivering a range of multi-disciplinary projects.
As a Principal Project Controller within our Transportation business you will undertake a key role in delivering our client requirements. As an individual we would look to you to show significant experience in communications across all ranges and levels of personnel, demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadline, prioritising tasks, with an analytical approach to problem solving and reporting combined with being a team player. The knowledge, skills and experience we value are varied as we continue to develop diverse teams.
You will help to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to supporting others across the team in delivering a high-quality service. Showing leadership skills and working in of a team of diverse individuals, actively encouraging new ways of thinking to provide an agile delivery environment.
In delivery you should understand your clients requirements and the impacts of the success factors of the project, developing a schedule and delivery plan to ensure success. With experience in analysis of financial data, forecasting and reporting you will play a critical role in the delivery and support of your Project Manager. Delivering a safe working culture within project teams and promoting safety within all aspects of your work.
As a key member of the project team you should have excellent communication skills, allowing you to maintain relationships with your client, your team and the Jacobs organisation. You will communicate progress, potential issues and financial risks to inform and propose mitigation to your Project Manager.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
You will have proven financial and commercial experience gained across a range of projects. With a sound understanding of the principles and application of cost control and budget monitoring you will have the ability to:
Report the commercial status of projects in accordance with company methods
Operate within various forms of contract
Operate reporting tools and systems to allow for clear reporting
Proven ability to engage with, influence, and manage communications at an operational level with the project team and the business
Understand the factors affecting motivation of project team members
Excellent organisation skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Work as part of a team to ensure project delivery to the cost, time and quality objectives of the Client and the Jacobs organisation.
